Amrit M.J. Fernando is a third-generation member of the Sri Lankan family behind the globally respected Dilmah Tea. Building on the legacy of his grandfather, Merrill J. Fernando, Amrit focuses on unlocking the full potential of Ceylon’s rare tropical ingredients, particularly Ceylon Tea and Ceylon Cinnamon, through innovation, science and modern storytelling.
Committed to shaping the next fifty years of the family business, he works to evolve Dilmah’s legacy while staying true to its founding philosophy: that business must serve both people and the planet. Beyond the boardroom, Amrit is an artist at heart, exploring tea and spice culture through photography, videography and writing, with projects including a photobook, documentary and personal journals that celebrate the landscapes, people and stories behind Sri Lanka’s finest ingredients.
