Stove Top Chai
Published 17 Aug, 2020We can’t imagine life without the comfort of good tea – especially now.
Nothing beats tea in our books. Nothing. So we give it our all to make sure we’re sharing the best tea we can; hand blended organic whole leaves with beautiful botanicals, fresh spices and essential oils. This is the kind of tea that manages to transport time into your day. Tea time. Don’t you think the whole world should set their clocks to that?
Right now, chai is an obvious choice – it’s the ultimate in warming comfort. We have 2 different chai blends in our range of teas – No 6, which is a dry whole leaf tea and spice mix, and also No 13, our ’sticky’ chai, which is a mix of loose leaf tea and spices folded through brown rice syrup. It has turmeric in it too, which we love for a bonus immune support. The smell as you brew it is like aromatherapy.
Feel like upping your tea game? Try this stove top chai tea recipe from All The Things.
- Add 2 heaped tablespoons of ATT Sticky Chai to 400ml of rainwater in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Allow the tea to come to the boil.
- Once it has been boiling for 1-2 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea, then add 400ml of milk. We love Bonsoy or homemade almond milk.
- Make sure the milk comes up to heat, but don’t boil at this stage or you will end up with a skin on top of your chai! Strain into a tea pot and serve immediately.
- Because the sticky chai is a ‘wet tea’, meaning it has brown rice syrup stirred through the tea leaves and spices, there’s no need to sweeten it, but if you’re using an unsweetened chai blend, you may like to add a sweetener of your choice when you add the milk, while it’s still on the stovetop.
- Brewing chai this way allows the deeper flavour of the spices to release into the tea. It also makes your kitchen smell incredible.
