SA Tourism Hall of Fame and twice Australian tourism Award winner: Pindarie cellar door, is set on the Barossa’s Western Ridge, above the contoured farm, which provides stunning views, capturing a sense of the Barossa’s inner beauty.
Pindarie is one of the most picturesque cellar doors around. Housed in the old grain room, and adjacent heritage stables, the cellar door has been passionately restored from the ground up by the owners, Tony Brooks and Wendy Allan, using mainly recycled materials.
Their 750 acre property is a mix of sheep grazing amongst 110 year old olive trees, and sloping vineyard – it reflects 6 generations of the Brooks family involvement working with the land in South Australia. The Western Ridge Barossa Valley is land that sees rich red-brown soil sitting on top of limestone (Terra rossa). It’s a viticultural dream – growing good wine from the ground up.
As well as the Barossa’s mainstay of Shiraz, with a Western Ridge terroir influence, Wendy, a Viticulturist, moved into innovative new world approaches that see Spanish Tempranillo dance with Tuscan Sangiovese and a rich dash of Australian Shiraz to produce their delicious TSS blend – a red that is hard to put down! The Old World is not left out, with a wine like their Risk Taker Tempranillo, locally known as one of the best Tempranillo’s in the Barossa. To sum up Pindarie it is genuine, rustic, family owned, and produces deep long lasting beautiful wines from the Western Ridge, Barossa.
