Miguel Maestre is a celebrated Spanish chef based in Sydney, bringing the vibrant flavours of Spain to Australia. Born in Murcia, his passion for food was ignited from a young age, and he honed his skills alongside culinary greats including Serge Dansereau and Tony Bilson. Inspired by Ferran Adrià at the world-renowned El Bulli, Miguel opened Australia’s largest Spanish restaurant, El Toro Loco, at Manly Beach.
Miguel has served as head chef at prestigious events such as the Emirates Melbourne Cup, the Australian Grand Prix, and MotoGP. Awarded Spain’s highest civilian honor, The Order of Civil Merits, for his service to Spanish culture in Australia, he is also a beloved television personality, co-hosting The Living Room, starring in shows like Miguel’s Tropical Kitchen, Miguel’s Feasts, Weekend Feasts, and hosting Ready Steady Cook Australia in 2024. He won I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!in 2020, earning the title “King of the Jungle.”
