Maggie Beer Foundation
This year we’re thrilled to announce that the Maggie Beer Foundation is our chosen charity partner.
“Food is the fuel of life, of great conversation and memorable meals. Its substance is far more than just the nutrients acquired in the act of eating. It’s the knowledge of loving preparation, the anticipation of sharing a beautifully cooked and presented meal and the delicious pleasure of engaging all our senses as we eat. Food is nutrition not just for the body, but also for the soul. It’s what fires our appetite for life, no matter what age.” Maggie Beer
The Maggie Beer Foundation (MBF) was established in 2014 to improve the food experiences for older Australians, particularly those living within aged care homes. In fellowship with her Board of industry leaders, professors and health advisors, Maggie has made it her personal mission to link the latest research of how the food we eat can impact brain health and general wellbeing, with her innate knowledge of what good food can do for everyone’s emotional wellbeing – a truly nourishing mix, so much greater than the sum of its parts.
All donations made will be put towards the MBF strategic plan, by building skills and awareness of those preparing the food and in facilitating a research program to create the evidence that will drive policy and culture change for the benefit of older people in our community.
“There is so much to be done for those in aged care who are not lucky enough to be in a wonderful environment. What I want to do is to find all the great exponents of aged care, so we can celebrate them with the acknowledgement they deserve from a food interested group; the Foundation.” Maggie Beer.
Don’t forget you can donate to the Maggie Beer Foundation when purchasing your ticket to the show. And stay tuned, as later in the year we will be holding an online auction with some phenomenal prizes.
