Peter Kuruvita is an award-winning chef, restaurateur, television presenter and cookbook author, and one of Australia’s most respected culinary ambassadors. With over 40 years in hospitality, he is renowned for sharing the vibrant flavours and cultural richness of Sri Lankan and South Asian cuisine through a contemporary, produce-driven approach.

Born to a Sri Lankan father, Peter’s love of food began in the family kitchens of Colombo and grew into a celebrated restaurant career. He rose to prominence as Executive Chef and co-owner of Sydney’s iconic Flying Fish, later expanding the brand to Fiji, before returning to Noosa to open Noosa Beach House with Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort, a venue that won Sunshine Coast Business of the Year in 2019.

Peter is the author of three cookbooks including Serendip, My Feast and Lands of the Curry Leaf and has presented five internationally broadcast SBS television series, including My Sri Lanka, Island Feast, Mexican Fiesta and Coastal Kitchen. Today, he is a global ambassador for Dilmah Tea, Culinary Director of the Sunshine Coast’s premier food festival The Curated Plate, leads immersive culinary tours of Sri Lanka, and serves as Head Judge on the first season of MasterChef Sri Lanka.
