Buy West Eat Best

Buy West Eat Best enables Western Australian shoppers to clearly identify food products which have been grown, farmed and fished in Western Australia.

Western Australian businesses that display the Buy West Eat Best logo must meet stringent criteria for local content and quality. Logo management and compliance is carried out by the Department of Agriculture and Food in Western Australia who regularly monitor use at both retail and manufacturing level.

For fresh products, such as fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood, the products must be grown, fished or farmed in Western Australia. For processed food such as sauces, yoghurts, cheese, bread or pies, the main ingredient must be grown, fished or farmed in Western Australia and the product must be processed in Western Australia.

The program was recently expanded to include Western Australian restaurants, and the list of establishments who commit to use a minimum of 70% locally fished, farmed or grown items in their menu is expanding rapidly. Their restaurant members include the iconic Frasers in Kings Park, The Shorehouse in Swanbourne, Petition, Sandalford, The Wembley Hotel, Don Tapa, The Old Brewery, Arthouse Dine, The Standard and Indiana, Cottesloe.

The team at Buy West Eat Best works with the state’s best chefs, caterers and retailers to bring member produce into the hearts, minds and mouths of Western Australian foodies.
