Originally hailing from Yorkshire in northern England, Matt Wilkinson is chef and owner of Melbourne eatery Pope Joan, much-loved for its homely dishes – led by locally grown, seasonal produce – with a distinctly British twist.
Pope Joan opened its doors in 2010 and, since that time, it has evolved from a daytime café to a bustling space with a bar and dining room for weddings and private functions. It is a firm neighbourhood favourite.
Matt is the author of two best-selling cookbooks: Mr Wilkinson’s Favourite Vegetables, Mr Wilkinson’s Simply Dressed Salads, and Mr & Mrs Wilkinsons How it is at Home. He is also a regular contributor to delicious. magazine.
He loves nothing more than getting his hands dirty gardening, camping and fishing and has never been one to say no to a martini.
Matt lives in Northcote with his wife Sharlee and their two hooligans Finn and Jay.
See Matt on stage with Sharlee Gibb at the Good Food Theatre, presented by ILVE at the Good Food & Wine Show in Melbourne.
