Cacao and Maca Superfood Smoothie

It’s pretty clear that all current food trends are pointing to smoothies! Sammy Jakubiak has been making smoothies all her life and over the past 4 years it’s been all about the healthy smoothie. Adding superfoods and substituting dairy for almond milk have been the main changes made, but it’s also opened up some quirky flavour combos and finding ways to please food cravings but in a healthy way.  Have a go at making her Peruvian cacao and maca superfood smoothie  – a great way to start the day!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup Brazil nuts
  • 3-4 pitted dates
  • ½ tsp vanilla paste
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 ripe pear
  • 2 tbsp Peruvian lucuma powder
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder (Peruvian is the best – if you can get it)
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 ½ cups almond milk
  • 2 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 2 cups coconut ice

Method:

  1. Blend all ingredients together, apart from the cacao nibs and the coconut ice, until creamy and smooth.
  2. Add nibs and coconut ice and blend until frosty and smooth.
