Burgundy – A Tour along the Route Nationale
Burgundy (sigh). This Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Mecca is what all other regions and countries strive to emulate and whilst many come close, it is still the ‘holy grail’ amongst wine loving tragics. The famous ‘route nationale’ takes you from the northernmost outpost of Chablis, then south past the Cotes du Nuits, through the Cotes de Beaune, onto the Macon and finishing up in Beaujolais. This 250 odd kilometer drive is enough to make anyone thirsty, so we better sample the wares along way.

Penfolds – An Australian Icon
Arguably Australia’s most internationally recognized and respected brands, Penfolds is not one to sit on their laurels. The rumor is true; this Australian icon has been playing around … like a lot! And thank goodness for without it, the likes of ‘Grange’ would never have made it to our shelves. Experimentation and ‘trial bins’ are a huge part of Penfolds story. Who knows, one of these may just be the next ‘Grange’.

Add to this the families who have a winemaking history spanning multiple generations and Australia’s vinous heritage becomes all the more important. Join us as we not only meet some of Australia’s First Wine Families, but the crusty old vineyards responsible for beautiful wines from withered vines.

So Rare - Australian Fortifieds
Participants for this session are in for a real treat. The session will feature five wines that define the ceiling of quality within the production and style of Australian fortified wine. Each session will offer a vintage port, a tawny port, an apera, a topaque and a muscat. While discussing these superb wines, the session will also give an understanding of the classification structure within our fortified industry. For many, this will be a once in a lifetime chance to taste and understand five wines of supreme quality at the one time.
